With RTA kitchen and bathroom cabinets on the rise, more and more people have questions about ready-to-assemble cabinets. RTA cabinets may be a new concept for many people, but they are undoubtedly changing how people see home improvement.

We asked Dave, an RTA cabinet expert here at Cabinet Corner, to answer a few of the common questions we get about ready-to-assemble cabinets. Here are a few of his answers that give some insight about purchasing RTA cabinets.

Us: What are some of the difficulties people have when choosing RTA cabinets?

Dave: One of the big ones is that this is usually a first-time experience for most people as they’re remodeling or building a new home and purchasing things over the internet. Because this is typically a big expenditure for them, it’s hard sometimes for them to go the distance and purchase something they can’t actually see, especially when there’s a large amount riding on that transaction.

Us: Let’s say a customer asks, “This sounds good and all, but I’m just nervous about this transaction and buying this because I haven’t really seen or felt these for myself?” How does Cabinet Corner help its clients know they’re getting a quality product?

Dave: First of all, we offer free samples so that you can actually see the product or part of the product and see what the quality is. We send you a sample of the doors in the color finishes that you request as well as a core sample to show you what the cabinet box is constructed of. This will help to show you exactly what kind of a product you’re getting.

The Cabinet Corner website is loaded with pictures of installed RTA cabinets. We can send you pictures of previous customers’ projects that have been completed or are in process to give you an idea of what you might be purchasing.

Our goal is to make sure that you get the kitchen or the bathroom or laundry room or whatever it is that you’re trying to put together and be satisfied and happy with the end project. We’d like to answer any questions. We’d like to be there for you to assist you through that process clearly to the end.

We feel our kitchen and bathroom cabinets are better quality than the contractor-grade cabinets that are frequently seen in the box stores and that most people start with or look at originally. We feel like we can give you a better product at a lower price usually than the contractor-grade cabinets.

Us: What is one of the most common questions you receive from potential customers?

Dave: A frequent question that we often receive is, “Do the cabinets come assembled?”

We do assemble them here if you are able to pick up at our location. However, most of the cabinets that are ordered are shipped RTA or Ready To Assemble. Once they arrive, they would be something you or a contractor or builder would put together at your location and install.

Some people are concerned about being able to assemble cabinets, especially if they’ve never done this before. These are actually quite quick and easy to put together. We provide online videos which walk you through that process. We’re also available via phone or email to help you with any questions or struggles you might have as you’re putting those together. Typically, a cabinet would take about 15 to 20 minutes to assemble so they’re much easier to assemble than say an IKEA cabinet or a Walmart bookshelf.

Us: What about shipping? Does that get expensive?

Dave: Customers often believe that shipping is really a high cost deal with RTA kitchen cabinets. It’s really not as bad as most people perceive it to be. When they get their final quotes with the shipping amount on there, they find that it’s a lot less than they had felt that it would be originally. We encourage people to go ahead and start the process and actually get the quote and the design and see what their total expenditure would be.
